[T1S1] Respondent describes family background: mother born in Poland, father born in Russia; life in Clarion, PA, purchase of store there, Wein Brothers. Respondent talks about immediate family; husbands, two sons, grandchildren, sister; describes life in small town, no observant Jewish population, anti-Semitism, embarrassment due to parents broken English. Respondent emphasized marriage to first husband, Ed Gordon, 1942, move to city of Pittsburgh, relationship with in-laws. Respondent explains Jewish social life in city, children's excellent education, involvement in cultural activities, many Jewish friends. Respondent reflects on husband's death, her study of Judaism afterwards and interest in golf.
