Description
North Porch, Central Portal; Outer Porch- Upper, Seated King
In the gable in the outer porch, to the upper left of the central door is the seated figure of a bearded, crowned man. Under his feet is a bearded, prone figure, lifting one arm toward the king.
To the right are two figures on the outer archivolt of the left portal. The one on the right is part of the "Active and Contemplative Life" series. A seated, veiled woman holds a closed book. The figure to the right is a woman (haloed). Her hair is unbound and she wears a crown; she holds a short staff with a banner in it. She also supports the top of a large triangular shield whose point rests on the ground. The shield has a winged dragon on it. Houvet suggested that this is the personification of Wisdom. Below is another figure of a winged dragon.
