37: Christ meets two pilgrims on the way to Emmaus
(Luke 24:13-29)
Two disciples (haloed, carrying pilgrim’s staffs) stand at right. One (head missing) stands frontally, the other (bearded) turns toward Christ, who stands at right. Christ (halo with cross) carries a pilgrim’s staff and gestures toward the apostles (Heimann, p. 87).
