10: Marriage of Mary and Joseph
Mary (veiled) holds the hand of Joseph (right). Behind Mary is a bearded man with his hand on her arm (a priest? Joachim?). Neither Mary nor Joseph has a halo.
11: Joseph takes Mary home
Joseph (left) stands at left. Mary (headless) stands beside him, touching his arm. For a discussion of the prototypes for this scene, see Heimann (p. 78). Heimann also mentions that, according to Lafontaine-Dosogne, this scene is present in Byzantine art, but is rarely found in medieval art in Western Europe. (Heimann, p. 77). Neither Mary nor Joseph has a halo.
