Description
Jamb Figure; Gothic; South Porch, Central Portal (Last Judgment)Statues of Simon and JudeThough these two are apostles, they are not on the jambs, like other apostles, but are walls of the porches between the portals. Simon (left) is between the left and the center portals. He is a bearded, barefoot figure with a halo. He holds a book in his veiled hands. On the socle is a beardless man with his hands cupped behind his ears. His legs appear to be crossed in front of him.Jude (right) is between the center and the right portals. He is a bearded, barefoot figure with a halo. He holds a sword, the instrument of his martyrdom. On the socle is a bearded man in a cap, holding a scroll. There is a window in the choir that depicts the lives of these two saints (Delaporte no. 35, Deremble-Manhes no. 1).
