Description
Pillar- bas-relief; Gothic; South Porch- Pillar on Right side of Right PortalSouth Face- The Confessors4 Laumer blesses UlfradeA monk (tonsured) stands at left, holding a long staff whose head has been broken off (it could be a crosier or a cross). To the right, facing him kneels a woman holding a staff and carrying a small pouch with a cross on it (a pilgrim?) Her hands have been broken off, but, judging from the positions of the arms, they may have been pressed together in prayer. Houvet identifies them as Laumer and Ulfrade. Laumer (also called Lomer or Laudomarus) was a local saint who was founder and abbot of the nearby monastery of Corbion in the 6th century .Clerval says it is the abbot Laumer curing Ulfrade.; South Porch, Right Portal
