Jambs; Gothic; West Façade, Left Portal; Jamb figures- Left, BasesFigural bases of the jamb figures to the left of the portal. Marriage describes them as1) a very mutilated figure of a man round whose body is coiled two serpents;2) a queen whose hair is woven into two long plaits; her left hand fingers one of the plaits and her right grasps the tail of a dragon on which she stands;3) "a group of singular animals a great deal mutilated; in the middle is a large ape, on his chest a toad; on each side is a dragon stretching his head out toward the toad, and under the ape's feet are a dog and a basilisk"(Marriage, p. 46); West Facade, Left Portal
