Description
Moses appears in front of a chorus portraying the Hebrew People while the personification of Conflict watches over the proceedings. Moses is played by Frederic G. Rodgers. In place of the 1920 May Day pageant, students, faculty, alumni, and members of the community produced an elaborate production, "Victory Through Conflict," in celebration of the college's fiftieth anniversary. Presented twice over two days and running over three hours, the pageant was written by Mary Brownson, professor of history, and Vanda Kerst, head of the expression department. The music was composed by Walter Wild, director of the music department, and dances were directed by Marion Gifford, professor of physical education. The pageant was dedicated to former PCW president Cora Helen Coolidge and consisted of four parts depicting the history of the world beginning with the Israelites crossing the Red Sea and closing with the end of WWI.
